Made popular by Steve McQueen in the sixties and, more recently, by James Bond, the Chukka boot traces it roots back to India where it was used during the Polo sport. The ankle-length, 3 eyelet Ambly Chukka boot is as versatile as it is elegant. Wear them with jeans, chino trousers or smart wool trousers.

This version comes in a beautiful, Chestnut coloured Kudu calf leather. For this boot, we have added a unique design future offered by only a few brands, which is the double tapering to single studded Vibram rubber sole. A pretty cool detail that took a while to develop, but that adds a level of elegance to these boots unmatched by any other.

At Sons of Henrey, we have become known for our incredible choice of leather. The Kudu calf leather that we use for this pair of Chukka boots comes from the Charles F. Stead tannery. Based in the United Kingdom, this family-owned tannery is well known for their high quality leather.

Kudu leather comes from the Kudu Antelope, a wild animal that is very common in Africa. It is finished with a so-called 'Jamaica' grain pattern, an irregular, wild and distinctive grain pattern.  It is a new Kudu tannage with embossed and tipped finish that gives the leather a unique and striking texture. We recommend brushing the shoes after every wear to remove dirt and restore the luster of the leather. Saphir Dark Brown shoe wax can be used to shine the leather.

Made on the Elegant Round last, the shoes feature a narrow waist, medium instep height and medium width across the ball. At the toe and under the vamp, there is extra volume for your feet. The heel to ball dimension, critical for a good fit, is the same for all Sons of Henrey lasts. We advise you to take the same size as you would in Carmina or Crockett & Jones. Size down half a size from your Edward Green or Gaziano & Girling size, and size up half a size from your Carlos Santos size.

Product features include:

  • Made from Cf Stead Chestnut Jamaica Kudu
  • Genuine leather insole
  • Cork footbed and metal shank
  • Leather board heel counter
  • Vibram studded rubber sole for grip and comfort
