George Dark Brown Utah Calf
Because of the enormous interest in this model, we have this model in continuous production at the factory. Demand from our customers far exceeds the supply, especially as the leather is scarce and takes more than 2 months to tan. If you wish to purchase this model, despite the long wait list, you will not be disappointed. These shoes should last you many (!) years, so what's a bit of wait?
Next delivery scheduled mid-December, 2021.
The iconic split toe derby, with its beautiful, fine stitched edge along the vamp and at the toe, will make you feel perfectly at ease both in a casual and business setting. Made from supple Dark Brown Utah calf with a genuine Dainite rubber sole, these shoes will quickly become one of your favourite pair of shoes. Made on the Contemporary Almond last, specifically designed for this model.
Split Toe Derby
The split toe derby model presumably originates from Norway, where it was worn by fishermen. Fishermen needed a sturdy, water resistant shoe, which required a pattern with as few seams as possible. The original split toe derby would have had no heel counter and a skin stitched toe, leaving only a single stitch line at the back where water could potentially pass.
Our version, the George, takes a slightly different approach. There is the presence of a heel, and the vamp and upper pieces are stitched together in a raised manner. Together with the inside-out stitching of the toe, this balances the pattern and makes for a very striking shoe, especially in grained leather or suede.
Utah calf is truly unique. Only the finest hides are used, and a mixture of 9 different fats and oils are added to the leather, which gives Utah calf its famous suppleness.
Authentic Dainite rubber studded sole. First introduced in 1910, The Dainite sole answers formal needs with smooth rubber and practical needs with recessed studs that help the wearer grip to the ground. Manufactured by the Harboro Rubber company (United Kingdom).
Our Contemporary Almond last, with its slightly finer toe and more symmetric shape, is the ideal last for our Split Toe derby, and the elegant Wholecut Chelsea boot.
The last features a narrow waist, medium instep height and medium width across the ball. The heel to ball dimension, critical for a good fit, is the same for all Sons of Henrey lasts.
In terms of fitting, we recommend that you take your standard UK size. Feel free to contact us for more fitting advise.
