Step 2: Choose Your Last

Sons of Henrey currently offers three different lasts, with a fourth underway. All lasts have been developed together with Springline Ltd., precision last manufacturers from Northampton and the only remaining last manufacturer in the United Kingdom. They draw upon decades of experience, and together we were able to achieve a very contemporary look for our lasts.

Elegant Round Last

Features a narrow heel and waist, medium instep height and medium width across the ball. Extra volume under the vamp for increased comfort. The Elegant Round last is our most versatile last.

Soft Square Last

Features a narrow heel and waist, slightly higher instep height and medium width across the ball. The last tapers towards a slightly lower volume, soft square toe with a distinctive side profile.

Contemporary Almond Last

Features a narrow heel and waist, medium instep height and medium width across the ball. With its slightly finer toe and more symmetric shape, it is the ideal last for our Split Toe and Chelsea model.

Loafer Last

The loafer last has a more narrow heel for extra grip, slim waist and lower volume under the vamp for an improved no-lace fit. The toe shape can best be described as an almond toe, with inspiration drawn from bespoke samples.

Step 3: Choose The Upper Leather

With great connections to the leather industry, we are able to offer our customers a selection of very high quality leather. From the highest grade French and German calf, to more elusive leathers such as Ilcea Museum calf and Horween Hatch Grain. Choosing the preferred type of leather is a fun, although sometimes daunting task, and we are happy to help you pick the perfect leather.

Step 4: Choose The Sole

The sole is an equally important element of the shoe, as it can determine the final look and versatility of the shoe. With many years of experience, we can help you choose the right sole for your needs. While some people prefer the feeling of walking on a leather sole, others swear by a full rubber sole or perhaps the more sturdy feeling of a Ridgeway sole. We offer a number of different options, suited for every occasion.

Step 5: Sole Edge Finish

We offer four different sole edge finish options, from light to dark:

Natural Edge Finish

Here, the edge is left uncoloured, and we only use a transparent dye. Looks stunning on lighter designs.

Antique Edge Finish

A semi opaque dye is used to create an antique edge, a popular choice for lighter coloured leathers.

Brown Edge Finish

Our standard edge finish as it is the most versatile, where a dark brown dye is used that covers the entire sole edge.

Black Edge Finish

A black edge dye is used, which in our opinion only works with black coloured shoes.
